My conte crayon project definitely is not my favorite project of term one, but I think I developed my skills as an artist with this project. The conte crayon medium was new to me, and I had never drawn fruit before. As the first still life of the year, I tried to hone my skills from previous years, and ended up gaining some valuable skills. On the left, you can see what I originally wanted to draw, but I because there were so many elements, I tried an alternate solution and just focused on the orange pepper wedge. I unfortunately had to take out the stem and yellow pepper piece, and this allowed me to really notice the detail on the pepper. I translated that into my artwork, and when it was done, I reflected on it. I noticed the shadow I made on the pepper, which while intended to glue the pepper to the page, made it look weightless and floating. I also noticed that I used the colors well, and go the depth across very well in the final piece. Overall, I think this project made me grow as an artist, and looking back on it, I now see it as a complete piece.
