This project will most likely be a term 3 project. Pictures should be up in a few weeks. I will have finished my batik piece by the first week of March. I first drew my design on 18" by 24 " paper in pencil, and then went over it in Sharpie. I started working on coloring the paper in with crayon, and I will finish that part of my piece after I actually complete the batik muslin piece. After I outlined my design, I ironed a piece of muslin that could fit my piece, and then traced over the sharpie from the paper onto the muslin. Then I drew wax over the lines with a jaunting tool. I started with a pencil, then changed over to a jaunting tool, which distributed the wax better. However, I had some difficulties because at one point I picked a jaunting tool with a wide flow, which got wax in places that I didn't really want to be on my piece. However, I finished waxing, and contently moved on to dyeing stage. I started with blue dye for the water, then the border, and moved on to use colors such as purple, red and orange to color in the clouds, and sunset sky as well as the border. Lastly, I used a bunch of colors to make a black night for the top of the sunset.
